She looks backon her experience as her disciple, and reviews Doctor Barrenechea’s personality andcontributions to the knowledge and learning of the Spanish language and, particularly,her role as professor.

Contenido: During the first decades of the twentieth century a publishing phenomenon, targeted to a newly literate audience, was developed in the River Plate area. This publishing events were the result of new technologies that allowed, on the one hand, to reduce costs and multiply rolls and, on the other, to combine images that accompanied and questioned the texts. The rise of such new editorial products went hand in hand with a new kind of editor, issued from immigrant families. Within these new social actors, we find Samuel Glusberg, a Jewish immigrants’ son who, between 1919 and 1922, undertook a challenging publishing project: Ediciones selectas América. Cuadernos mensuales de letras y ciencias.  Glusberg published 50 booklets in this collection, intended to disseminate literary products among popular sectors. The study of his project allows us to elucidate how Latin American literary construction process evolved and to understand how its reception grew thanks to highly communicated networks between the upper and popular cultural circuits.

Contenido: The cazurra sequence of the barn mockery at the inn of Juan Palomeque (Quixote, I, 43) is one of the passages whose value has not been adequately emphasized over four centuries of uninterrupted readings. First, because it is not, strictly speaking, an adventure, an aspect which, in addition, resonates to the categorical problem of why the passages that pivot on the erotic-amorous dimension of the novel are not considered as such. Second, incidentally, because the fine structural correspondence -with subtle games of mirroring and various refractions- has not been noted between this interlude in which the knight does not sleep, out of his own free will, and that other one, in I;16, which was similar as he could not rest because he was so beaten. These veiled tensions bring to the foreground a series of cazurro games apparent in dilogies and communicational misunderstandings where, in a nutshell, what is problematised is the corporeal status of the subject and his desiring condition. These are the main courses through which the narration will channel, step by step, the protagonism of the wanderer.

Contenido: El presente artículo abordará el problema de la construcción identitaria y su relación con la justicia en el Guzmán de Alfarache (segunda parte, libro segundo, capítulos 3 a 5). En dicho pasaje, ésta se materializa bajo distintos modos simbólicos, productores del ser social entre el acontecimiento –el hecho delictivo, la puesta a disposición del propio cuerpo ante la ley– y la deriva infinita de padecimientos a que lo somete. Explorar la lógica que subyace al sistema judicial permitirá arrojar luz sobre los modos en que una sociedad concibe el orden y a quienes relega al margen.

Contenido: In this paper we analyse the poems “El cadáver” (Austria-Hungría, 1980) and “El cadáver de la Nación” (Hule, 1989) by Néstor Perlongher. The writing deals with the body-corpse of Eva Perón trying to confront the death and to lose the fear of her death. We start by treating the corpse as a rest that gathers death and encourage this poetry. With special attention, we study the space construction: the corridor, the sorroundings, the inside, the outside, the lines. That construction enlarges the perceptions and the ways of moving that appears in both poems.

Contenido: El artículo se propone abordar un aspecto de los años veinte y un contrapunto entre Borges y Arlt, comienzo sin duda arbitrario pero significativo pues condensa aspectos que es preciso recobrar. Borges inventa algo difícil de lograr en la literatura, una mirada diferente, cambio que se manifiesta en un nuevo interés por unos espacios que a veces llama paisaje, lo cual supone también una manera de concebir lo pintoresco donde se aúnan la rusticidad graciosa y simple y el deleite por lo pequeño, construyendo un paisaje que quedó en la literatura porque está dotado de cierto aura que, como diría Benjamin, no puede reducirse a una pura y simple fenomenología de la fascinación sino que es más bien una mirada obrada por el tiempo. Por su parte, la obra de Roberto Arlt produjo una gran transformación no por contar la basura del trabajo burgués, las humillaciones, rutinas y miserias de los pequeños empleados y de los trabajos mal pagados y frustrantes sino por haber introducido mucho más veladamente que todo esto, a través del ocio, del gusto por no trabajar, el haraganeo y el vagabundear, la más contundente representación de la crisis del trabajo, del fin del trabajo y de la salida del mundo del trabajo. 

Contenido: La secuencia de las novelas de Pérez Galdós La incógnita, Realidad (novela) y Realidad (pieza teatral) revela mecanismos que pueden ser encuadrados en  la génesis del texto literario. Escritas entre 1887 y 1888, las dos novelas plantean el terma de la reescritura, y el odio al orden, que atraviesa las tres piezas, se convierte en su principio constructivo.AbstractThe sequence of the works of Benito Pérez Galdós La incógnita, Realidad (novel) and Realidad (theatrical work) reveals mechanisms that can be framed in the genesis of the literary text. Written between 1887 and 1888, these two novels raise the topic of rewriting, and the hate towards orderliness, which spans the three texts, becomes its constructive principle.

Contenido: A partir de las reflexiones de Ana María Barrenechea sobre las artes sucesivas y las artes no sucesivas, exploramos los vínculos entre la poesía, el dibujo y la pintura en la obra del poeta y plástico argentino Hugo Padeletti, considerando dos volúmenes de escasa circulación: Dibujos y Poemas 1950-1965 y Osaturas 1969-2008, con pinturas de Mariano Cornejo. En ambos observamos que a través de ese vínculo entre lo visual y lo poético Padeletti reconoce en la forma artística un modo de trascender la sucesión temporal y afirmar en el “absoluto aquí y ahora” la “eternidad del instante”. Esta cuestión responde a una problemática contemporánea: la relación entre la temporalidad y la intemporalidad en las imágenes pictóricas (que investigan John Berger o Georges Didi-Huberman o aparece en el manifiesto “The Sublime is Now” de Barnett Newman) que tiene una resolución posible en la estética del poeta argentino.AbstractBased on Ana María Barrenechea´s reflections on successive arts and non-successive arts, we explore the links between poetry and painting in the work of Argentinian poet and artist Hugo Padeletti, in two volumes of limited circulation: Dibujos y Poemas 1950-1965 y Osaturas 1969-2008 with paintings by Mariano Cornejo. In both cases we can see that the link between the visual and the poetic leads Padeletti to recognize a way of transcending the temporal succession in the artistic form and confirming “the eternity of instant” in the “absolute here and now”. This matter responds to the relationship between temporality and atemporality in pictorial images (studied by John Berger and Georges Didi-Huberman or present in the manifesto “The Sublime is Now” by Barnett Newman), a contemporary problem that is solved in the aesthetics of our poet.

Contenido: In the present work, the discourse of Florence of Rome, the heroine of Otas de Roma, is analyzed in relation to the holy protagonists of the previous hagiographies of Escorial MS. h-I-13. The prayers and supplications that mark the development of the story and testify to its progress reveal a feminine identity that is shaped by the subordination of the earthly to the divine and of the individual to the collective, in line with the stories of the accused queens to which it belongs and with the political figure of the infanta and the problems of imperial succession.

Contenido: The versified determination of what is and is not Peronist define the aim of Carlos Godoy’s Escolástica peronista ilustrada. The analysis of this text, along with the study of Daniel Santoro’s illustrations that accompanying the Interzona edition, allows us to delve into how a new generation of writers imagine the Peronist nowadays. Its insistences and its contradictions, its ambitions and its limits, might be pointing out certain generational marks and, at the same time, certain chronic impossibilities. 

Contenido: La Arcadia, novela pastoril de Lope de Vega propone al lector el derrotero sentimental de Anfriso y Belisarda que está cruzado por la profusión descriptiva y un sistema retórico que entreteje referencias a escenas de lectura y escritura. Dicha tematización es un recordatorio de la presencia de la ficción y de la convención idealizante propia de un género exitoso. Nuestro trabajo se propone relevar estas referencias y observar su funcionamiento en la estructura del relato propuesto por Lope. 

Contenido: The aim of this work is to analyze the functions of the treatment formula gato in young people. The theoretical-methodological proposal compiles development in sociocultural pragmatics (Bravo, 1999), ethnographic methodology (Hymes, 1986) and reticular analysis (Hanneman, 2000). The corpus was created from a fieldwork from a 6th year secondary school course from the province of Buenos Aires. For this research, twelve interactions were analyzed in classes of different subjects, with participants between 17 and 18 years old who use gato. Based on the theoretical-methodological work carried out, we seek to show: 1) the use of the treatmnt gato, among young people who are at a minimum interpersonal distance within the network of friends, reinforces directive speech acts (especially, requests); 2) the treatment gato used by these young people, towards others who are outside their network of friends, constitutes a threatening order and highlights the content of the affiliation image to the group itself (Bravo, 1999). Finally, the treatment gato de mierda constitutes an intensification of threat in impolite acts, among participants who are two or more steps away within their network of friends.

Contenido: The system of treatments in Buenos Aires Spanish underwent, since the mid-nineteenth century, a process of restructuring in its interactional patterns, whose result meant -on the pragmatic level- the expansion of the pronoun of trust vos to the detriment of the formal usted and, on the grammatical level, the advance of vos as the only second-person singular form of family to the detriment of tú (Rigatuso 2011, 2017). In the educational domain, and specifically within the framework of classroom prompts, the forms of address are part of the set of ways in which teachers can question their students. In this sense, the article aims to compare the uses of the forms of address of second-person singular registered in the classroom prompts of four educational levels in Buenos Aires Spanish. Given that the age of the students and the educational level at which the prompts are produced has proven to be influential variables concerning the choice of the modes of appeal, the confrontation of the four levels allows tracing the path of the use of the forms of address in prompts in the framework of the constitution of particular communicative styles, which also imply a distinctive management of the link between students and teachers.

Contenido: In this article, we offer a historical survey to try to conceptualize what we describe under the notion of Amado Alonso’s attributes, understanding them as a way of analyzing his contributions, of interpreting the scope of his work at the Institute of Philology, and of representing a fundamental period in the development of linguistic ideas in Argentina, in particular, and in the Hispanic world, in general. To do this, we will present his role as a philologist – analyst, historian and epistemologist – in the disciplinary dimension, as a director – teacher and translator – in the institutional dimension and as a public figure in the social dimension.

Contenido: La relación entre la perspectiva de la generación de los significados léxicos, por un lado, y la de la interpretación semántica, por otro, ha sido poco explorada en los modelos contemporáneos sobre la polisemia. En el marco del Léxico Generativo (Pustejovsky 1995, 2006, 2011), se considera que existen elementos léxico-gramaticales que operan distintos mecanismos sobre la estructura semántica del ítem léxico para generar uno de sus posibles sentidos en contexto. Se utiliza aquí el término indicador de generación de sentido (IGS) para hacer referencia a estos elementos que operan los mecanismos generativos, pero que a la vez constituyen indicios textuales para la interpretación del léxico en contexto. El trabajo se propone identificar y analizar tipos de IGS y caracterizar su interacción, a partir del estudio del funcionamiento en un corpus textual de nombres que presentan polisemia regular entre un sentido locativo y un sentido no locativo. Las hipótesis que se comprueban son las siguientes: (i) las piezas que operan los mecanismos para la generación de significados son de dos tipos: específicos de determinados sentidos, por un lado, y por otro, comunes a toda la clase nominal, cada uno de los cuales puede presentar diferente “fuerza” para la desambiguación; (ii) la interacción entre IGS con diferentes fuerzas es un factor decisivo para la percepción de los nombres como ambiguos, lo que confirma el carácter dinámico del significado léxico; (iii) en cuanto a los IGS generales del ámbito nominal, desde el punto de vista de la generación, lo importante es la expresión de una determinada relación léxica, mientras que desde la perspectiva metodológica de la desambiguación es la pieza léxica particular empleada en el contexto lingüístico la que habilita una lectura (i.e., determinado merónimo, hiperónimo o cohipónimo). 

Contenido: This paper intends to pay tribute to Berta Vidal de Battini by reconsidering one of her linguistic observations in El español de la Argentina, where nomás (or no más) is identified as an adverb with specific uses, especially in the Río de la Plata variety. Based on this work, the article first describes the meaning and grammatical function of the general Spanish use of nomás, which is common to all Argentine varieties. Regarding the Río de la Plata usages, a first stage (toward the end of 18th century) is distinguished, in which nomás carries a mitigating value when combined with deictic terms (ahí nomás) and imperative verb forms (entre nomás). In a second stage (probably in the early 20th century), new uses emerge: nomás intensifies the meaning of the particle meta (¡Meta nomás!, cf. Pacheco, La ribera, 1910) or makes reference to a previous —not necessarily explicit— speech act (¿Le sigue doliendo, nomás?, cf., Sánchez, Barranca abajo, 1905). In this way, by focusing on the successive processes of grammaticalization of nomás, which represent an instance of intersubjectification (Traugott, 2003), we hope to contribute to the grammatical study of Argentine varieties of Spanish.

Contenido: En este trabajo nos proponemos abordar una serie de novelas de Paco Ignacio Taibo II protagonizadas por Héctor Belascoarán Shayne, personaje en el que hay resonancias de la novela policial negra estadounidense. Intentaremos trazar un perfil del célebre detective desde una perspectiva de género, subrayando en particular el concepto de masculinidad. Nos interesa indagar cómo esta figura y otros personajes que pueblan el universo ficcional construido por el autor encarnan un distanciamiento o se acercan al género en dos de sus sentidos: como matriz de identidad y como forma literaria. Nuestro corpus está compuesto por las novelas Días de combate (1976), No habrá final feliz (1989) y Muertos incómodos (2005), esta última escrita con el Subcomandante Marcos del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN). En constante movimiento por la ciudad de México, espacio en el que reina la impunidad y donde la justicia se vuelve imposible, el detective muestra la sordidez de crímenes que por momentos parecen estar resueltos de antemano; subyace la idea de que todo crimen es crimen de Estado. Mientras vive sus aventuras, Belascoarán Shayne presenta a los lectores un bosquejo de teorización sobre la masculinidad, el ser mexicano y el género policial.
