In a research field to be explored yet as is the history of the print culture and reading in Colombia, we discuss the main contributions achieved up to now, trying to classify them by historical trends that, from its methodological and theoretical approaches, allow us to explore the practical and symbolic meanings embodied by the “book” and the “reading” in a specific context.

En un campo de estudio todavía escasamente tratado en Colombia como es la historia del libro y de la lectura, presentamos los principales aportes que hasta el momento se han dado en él, intentando inscribirlos en tendencias historiográficas que, desde sus posturas teóricas y metodológicas, nos permitan seguir abordando los significados prácticos y simbólicos que en un determinado contexto social adquieren el “libro” y la “lectura”.
